Moving ahead from hydrogen to methanol economy: scope and challenges

نویسندگان

چکیده

Energy is the driver in economic development of any country. However, most developing countries do not have sufficient oil reserves to cater their energy requirement and depend upon producing countries. The perturbations crude price adverse environmental impacts from fossil fuel usage are biggest concern. Therefore, started investing heavily solar wind power considering hydrogen as a future resource. tap potential fuel, an entirely new infrastructure will be needed for transporting, storing dispensing it safely, which would expensive. In transportation sector, liquid alternate fuels highly desirable existing can used with minor modifications. Among possible fuels, methanol very promising. Methanol single carbon atom compound produced wide variety sources such natural gas, coal biomass. properties conducive use gasoline engines since has high octane number flame speed. Other uses are: cooking rural areas running cells. present study reviews limitations economy why moving toward more beneficial.

Engineering Challenges of the Hydrogen Economy

HE TERM “HYDROGEN ECONOMY” is the title of a recent book [Rifkin, 2002], but the concept of using hydrogen as fuel for transportation systems has been advocated by environmentalists and others for at least three decades. There is no universally accepted definition of the “hydrogen economy,” but it is generally viewed as the replacement of the vast majority of petroleum fuels used by transportat...

Towards a methanol economy based on homogeneous catalysis: methanol to H2 and CO2 to methanol.

The possibility to implement both the exhaustive dehydrogenation of aqueous methanol to hydrogen and CO2 and the reverse reaction, the hydrogenation of CO2 to methanol and water, may pave the way to a methanol based economy as part of a promising renewable energy system. Recently, homogeneous catalytic systems have been reported which are able to promote either one or the other of the two react...

Moving Ahead from the Spreadsheet Platform

The integration of emergy analysis with Life Cycle Assessment is not only useful, but, in the opinion of the authors, often essential and overdue. In particular, implementing emergy within one of the commercially-available LCA software packages allows the analyst to make use of the internationally-recognized databases and to produce results in a quicker, more consistent, and more reliable way i...

Scope Economy and TAG Locality

This paper gives an analysis explaining various cases where the scope of two logical operators is non-permutable in a sentence. The explanation depends on a theory of derivational economy couched in the synchronous tree adjoining grammar framework. Locality restrictions made using the STAG formalism allow us to limit the computational complexity of using transderivational constraints and allows...
